Roxanne Jeffries-Baxter, DNP, MSN, RN, GNP-BC, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, is pursing a PhD at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, in Cleveland, OH. Her research interest is exploring impact of trauma exposure on Opiate use disorder. Dr. Jeffries-Baxter is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in three specialties, Gerontology (GNP-BC), Family Practice (FNP-BC), and Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC), from the University of Penn, Drexel University, and Case Western Reserve University respectively.

Dr. Jeffries’ trajectory in mental health and substance abuse occurred throughout her advanced practice nursing career, first in nursing homes, followed by correctional facilities, psychiatric hospitals for drug and alcohol, and acute Psychiatry care. This was accomplished over a ten-year period as a GNP-BC and FNP which fueled her my passion to become a PMHNP-BC.

Currently, Dr. Jeffries practices in corrections as well as owning a virtual psychiatric practice and a non-profit that seeks to provide supportive recovery services to individuals. She is committed to optimizing the health of urban and diverse communities by helping to eliminate health disparities by aiding diverse persons to recover from the disease of addiction, trauma, and mental health disorders.

Dr. Jeffries also serves in academia as an adjunct faculty member at Walden University’s PMHNP program. She maintains an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Minnesota.
