David Agor

David Chinyeaka Agor, BSN, RN, PMHNP, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He plans to pursue a PhD to research policy-informed interventions addressing structural stigma for sexual and gender minority people of color. Mr. Agor conducted a practice change DNP quality improvement (QI) project on multiple minority stress assessment for Ethnic, Sexual, and Gender Minority individuals. His clinical and research foci examine the interplay of Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) stress and the incidence of HIV among SMG population which explores the intersection of SGM multiple minority stress and structural stigma on mental health outcomes for this population.

In addition, Mr. Agor is interested in researching policy-informed interventions for minority stress, structural: stigma, and determinants of health among SGM population. Conversely, he has championed the education of nurses on nutritional psychiatry a novel field of psychiatry focused on harnessing the power of nutrients to ameliorate mental illness. In clinical settings: he has pioneered inclusive SGM policies, including sexual and gender orientation demographic admission data. He champions safe-space inclusive atraumatic health care system for SGM population.

Mr. Agor has presented at international, national, and regional conferences on topics boarding health equity for SGM people of color. He is currently the co-leader for the international society of psychiatric nursing, southeastern region. At the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, he serves on the provost committee on LGBTQ Center Roundtable and Provost Committee for LGBTQ Life. His clinical practice spans across emergency rooms, acute-care geriatric, adolescent, trauma psychiatry, and eating disorder populations.

Mr. Agor was born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. He is dedicated to addressing homonegativity and racism in healthcare.
